Corporate Debriefings
The key criteria for corporate debriefings is
size of the group that you will be addressing. Group debriefings and bereavement
groups are limited in size, usually up to 15 group members. If you are meeting
with a group larger than that, you will be doing a corporate debriefing.
Corporate debriefings are also done in conjunction with other services and can
serve as the launching point for all interventions. They generally are used at
large events hence the large amount of employees impacted.
Corporate Debriefings are didactic in nature.
It is educational that will allow Q&A. It is not interactive beyond that.
PowerPoint's, overhead slides and handouts are commonly used during the
presentation. The goal of the intervention is to reach a large number of
employees, mixed in their roles and responsibilities and to provide education on
what just happened and how they are likely to be impacted. It will teach the
stages of recovery one might go through and the resources that exist to aide
this process. As with all interventions, there is a strong message of normalcy.
Often these types of interventions are the launching pads for the other
interventions that may be available throughout the time onsite. It will likely
include messages from management and HR leaders, and provide much needed
structure.
In the margin is the PowerPoint presentation
used during the corporate debriefing for Oklahoma City and several in NY after
9/11. You will see it is brief and serves as a visual to aid in employee focus.
This is usually well needed at the time. It let's employees know that there is a
normal process that we will be facilitating, it introduces us as the experts
that management has brought in to address their employees. You will notice
that the reactions are referred to as "symptoms", terminology that is not longer
used. If you choose to use this presentation, please make the appropriate
changes.
